Here is a the breakdown of the "Family Times". The yellow highlighted sections are the activities that should be completed weekly. The first four are extremely important because they focus on the phonics skill that we are learning as well as the high frequency words of the week. In the future, a spelling activity will become the fourth activity. The last activity is a comprehension task that will help your student to better understand what he/she is reading. To make the homework tailored to your student, you can adjust the high frequency words to words that your student needs to practice from his/her high frequency word list located in his/her binder. The story of the week is highlighted in green along with the sounds that we are focusing on that week. You can explore the story with your child online by logging in to your student's account.
Here is a video to help with teaching your child to blend words. Remember, that high frequency words are not words that can be blended. Instead, high frequency words must be memorized.

We use the Go Math! program in first grade to learn our mathematics. Your child will bring home math homework daily. Please complete the top page only unless your child was absent for the lesson. The additional pages that are stapled are for you and your child to use as a reference to complete the homework. Math homework should be returned daily. To access additional resources and information such as test items and scores for your child, visit the Go Math! website: https://www-k6.thinkcentral.com/ePC/start.do.
