Thanksgiving Break

I hope that you enjoy your time with your families during this Thanksgiving break.  Over break, please make sure that your child reads.  Even one week away from school can make a difference when it comes to a student's reading.  Also, I will be sending home a stocking for you and your child to decorate.  Please use your imagination!  The stockings should reflect your child's creativity and personality.  I look forward to seeing each unique stocking and hanging them in the hallway.

This Friday, I will be sending home your child's report card for the fall semester.  Please look over your child's report card carefully, and let me know if you have any questions or if you need anything clarified.

This Wednesday is a full day of school.  Please remember to have your child wear athletic shoes on Monday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  Library books should be returned on Thursday and are due back on Friday.

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Halloween party a success last week whether it was donating food, volunteering, or just making sure that your child was at school to enjoy the wonderful festivities.  The students and I both had so much fun!

There will be no spelling or reading homework this week since it is a review week.  The students will still receive math homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as always.  There will also be no spelling test this Friday.

This Wednesday is an early release day.  The students will be dismissed at 1:50pm.  Please remember to have your student wear athletic shoes on Monday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  Library books should be returned on Thursday and are due back Friday.

Happy Halloween!  This Tuesday will be our Halloween Party.  The students will begin getting ready for the Halloween parade at 1:30.  At 2:00. we will be headed to the mileage track for the parade.  After the parade, we will have a brief party from 2:30-3:00 where the students will be able to have some tasty fall treats.  Parents are welcome to attend; however, please make sure to check in with the office first.  Students should bring their Halloween costumes with them in a bag in their backpacks.  Masks, makeup, and pretend weapons should be left at home.  The students will be changing out of their costumes before heading home.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back from break!  I hope that you enjoyed this time as a family and were able to enjoy some of this fall weather that we have been having.  As we return to school, I have some sad news.  Ms. Natalie, our paraprofessional for our classroom, will be leaving us after Monday to begin a new job in her field.  Although I am quite sad to lose Ms. Natalie, she has acquired her dream job so I am happy for her new adventure.  She will be greatly missed in our classroom as she was a great asset to our learning community, and I know that the students enjoyed having her as another teacher.  Another paraprofessional will be joining our classroom as soon as Mr. Garrison is able to find a replacement that is the right fit for our classroom.

On a more happy note, the second grade team is excited to have Mrs. Washeleski back from maternity leave.  She has been greatly missed, and we have been waiting patiently for her return.  Mrs. Washeleski will be teaching your child during our technology switch.

This Wednesday is an early release day.  Please remember to have your child wear athletic shoes on Monday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  Library books should be returned on Thursday and are due back Friday.

Teacher Notes

Unfortunately, I will be absent quite a bit this week.  I will be absent for half of the day on Monday to attend a very important meeting in the afternoon.  On Wednesday and Thursday, I will be out the entire day so that I can attend a training for Annie's Big Nature Lesson, which is the week long field trip that we will be attending this year. I will be at school all of Tuesday and all of Friday.

This Friday is our first spirit day.  The students can decorate or wear their hair in a crazy way and dress crazy as long as they bring in one dollar.  The school store will also be available this Friday and popcorn will be available for purchase.

This Wednesday is a full day of school.  Please remember to have your student wear athletic shoes on both Monday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  Library books should be returned on Thursday and are due back Friday.

Thank you!

Check out my boys who all coordinated with orange this past week!  So cute!

Thank you everyone for attending conferences!  It was so nice to be able to talk about your children.  We are having such a blast this year.  If you have any questions regarding information that was discussed during conferences, please feel free to call or email me.  I will be assigning a pretest to the students on Friday of this week for math so that they can practice for their test on Monday.

This Wednesday is an early release day.  The students will be dismissed at 1:50pm.  Please remember to have your child wear athletic shoes on Tuesday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  Library books should be returned on Thursday and are due back Friday.

Conferences

This week is conferences!  This is one of my favorite weeks since I get to share all of the wonderful learning that has been happening in our classroom!  If you have not returned your confirmation slip yet, I will be emailing you this week to confirm your day and time.  Please keep in mind that these are goal setting and progress monitoring conferences so no report cards will be distributed at this point in the year.  If you are unable to attend your conference, please let me know by email or phone.  Thanks!

This Wednesday is a full day of school.  This Thursday and Friday are half days of school.  The students will be dismissed at 12:30pm.  There will be no lunch served on either of these days.  Please remember to have your child wear athletic shoes on Monday and Wednesday for Kinetics.  There will be no library this week due to the half day.
